Leshego Logistics was formed in 2001 when Röhlig and Grindrod merged their South African freight forwarding operations to form Röhlig Grindrod. The opportunity was given to the drivers from both companies to form a BEE [Black Economic Empowerement] company and Röhlig Grindrod found suitable partners for this venture who could attend to the administration and financial functions. The staff and managers of Leshego Logistics own 35% of the company and are responsible for the total operational performance of the company and The Young’s Family Trust owns the remaining 65%. Over the past 5 years Leshego Logistics has been able to purchase in excess of 22 trucks and light delivery vehicles with the backing of the service agreement from Röhlig Grindrod and securities pledged by the Young’s Family Trust. Leshego Logistics now has 46 staff members and over 22 vehicles delivering airfreight and sea freight LCL cargo throughout Gauteng, the Witwatersrand, the Eastern Cape and Kwa-Zulu Natal.
